Anti gender-critical beliefs

"Gender-critical beliefs" are currently protected in law in the UK, this means that anti gender-critical beliefs must also be equally protected in law.

This article represents my current thinking regarding anti gender-critical beliefs. These are not definitive, anti gender-critical beliefs will never be exactly identical and different opponents of transphobia will have different perspectives and experiences. However these appear to be what most people who oppose transphobia would regard as constituting anti gender-critical beliefs.

NB. The opposite belief to what have become known as "Gender-critical beliefs" is NOT "(trans)gender ideology", it is Anti "gender-critical" beliefs.

This list is numbered but not in any particular order.

1. "Gender-critical beliefs" (GCBs) are inherently oppressive, their principal aim is the spread of injustice, hatred and exclusion.
2. GCBs are not worthy of respect in a democratic society.
3. GCBs are a collection of rhetorical and propaganda tools aimed at the elimination of trans and non-binary people.
4. GCBs are inherently dishonest.
5. Being trans or non-binary is not the opposite of GCBs, the opposite is Anti gender-critical beliefs.
6. "(Trans)gender ideology" is a fabrication of GCBs, it is a propaganda device known as a faux conspiracy theory.
7. The purpose of “Gender-critical” rhetoric is to create the appearance of a rationale for what is, in reality just transphobic hatred. GCBs are an attempt to mask the transphobic hatred of those who espouse them.
8. GCBs are often also associated with other prejudicial attitudes including homophobia, misogyny, ableism, classism, racism, Islamophobia and antisemitism.
9. GCBs are never about protecting women, cis or trans. GCBs are anti-feminist and harm all women.
10. Those expressing GCBs often claim to represent "women". They do not, they represent transphobes only.
11. It is the right and responsibility of everyone opposed to GCBs to speak up against them wherever they are expressed or their consequences manifested.
12. The belief in the primacy of “biological sex” is wrong. This denies human agency and self-determination and is therefore harmful to all.
13. GCBs are spread through the top-down abuse of power, including extreme wealth, media power, exclusion and establishment manipulation.
14. GCBs are a core element of global fascism. All fascists are “gender-critical".
15. Using GCBs as a pretext to suppress, segregate or abuse trans people, restrict trans people’s human rights and deny trans people access to resources constitutes transphobia and is always illegitimate.
16. That GCBs need to be coercively enforced by legal threats, media power and unjust laws demonstrates that GCBs are not legitimate.
17. GCBs are fundamentally based on (proxy-)violence, coercion and are anti-rights.
18. Mistreating or harming trans or non-binary children and young people through expressing or acting upon GCBs constitutes bullying.
19. GCBs are often used as a political wedge to attack other groups' human rights. GCBs are a threat to everyone's human rights.

Anti gender-critical beliefs are protected in the same way GCBs are. Children and young people are also entitled to express these beliefs. Appropriate expression of your anti gender-critical beliefs including in response to the expression of GCBs or policies that stem from GCBs is valid.
